We’re all subject to a barrage of communication in our daily lives. The agency sector is no different. Competing for attention and resonance in a crowded and noisy market is a challenge. How agencies face into this challenge can mean the difference between success and failure.
Whilst it might be difficult – and even inadvisable – for an agency to try and position themselves as completely unique, we certainly believe it’s imperative they stand out. They need to get “beyond noise” as much as they can.

Running any business is challenging and running a marketing agency is no different. Agency owners face a constant battle to keep clients happy whilst trying to grow by winning new business. key to both these things is talented people. Recruiting, motivating and retaining talent is a top priority.
With so many – often changing – priorities, agency owners find it hard to focus. Running an agency can be a lonely role. Taking time to get “beyond noise” and work on the business strategy is vital.
Supporting UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development
Women outnumber men at a junior level within agencies, but the ratio is reversed at senior level. Historically, female agency directors have been outnumbered by their male counterparts by more than 3 to 1. There are signs that this is improving slightly with UK studies in 2021 showing a slight increase in the numbers of female agency leaders. One piece of research found 36% of agency directors are now female. Nevertheless the balance is far from equal. This is not only unacceptable from an equality perspective but ludicrously short-sighted from a business perspective.
The more diverse a workplace you have the more your agency is going to thrive. Women have been shown to outnumber men in agency’s at a junior level, but they’re not progressing through agencies at the same rate as men. This must change.
